Clear Murano Chandelier by Carlo Scarpa

Item Number peli-1602A vintage four tier polyhedron clear Murano chandelier, the polyhedron glass was designed by Carlo Scarpa for Paulo Venini, the chandelier is made out of a metal frame on a chain with the original canopy. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960 Italy.
Carlo Scarpa was an Italian architect and designer born in 1906 Venice, Italy and passed away in 1978. Scarpa studied at the Academia in Venice, were he received the title of Professor of Architecture. His work is deeply delicate to the changes of time, from season to history, strongly influenced by the materials and landscapes.
Paolo Venini was born in 1895 Cusano near Milan, Italy and passed away in 1959 Venice, Italy. He was an Italian lawyer and designer. In 1921, Venini opened a glass factory on the islands of Murano with his partner Giacomo Cappellin which they named Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & Co.
