Item Number gs-1250. Item Number gs-1250A limestone statue of the faun of Pan. In mythology, Pan symbolized the son of Hermes and Dryopa and was god of the shepherds and herds. The appearance of this statue is half man, half animal and shows the stacked flute and an animal. His hair is decorated extensively with grapes and vines. Wear consistent with age and use.Circa 19th Century, Loire Valley, France.
